1 cup sugar
4 tablespoons shortening
1 egg
2 cups flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ pint heavy cream
1 quart strawberries
Cream shortening and sugar and add beaten egg. Add part of the flour, baking powder and salt. Add part of the milk, remainder of flour and then the rest of the milk and vanilla. Bake in shallow greased pan for 20-30 minutes at 375°. When cooled split in half add cream and berries for layers.
